STORMS IN HAWKE'S BAY
SHIPPING IMPEDED. .RIVERS IN FLOOD. (Peb United Press Association.) . NAPIER, July 31. The weather continues very stormy. A heavy galo with rain commenced last night, and continued to-day. The Arahura, from Gisborne and Auckland, was unable to berth at the breakwater, and her passengers wero not landed. Tho Tarawera is also in tho roadstead. The Tangaroa left for Wairoa last night, but returned to Napier after a couple of hours. She received a severe buffeting in the bay. The rivers axe in high flood, and are still rising rapidly.
_ . Later. Heavy seas, continue on the coast, and all shipping is delayed. A thick fog tonight added to the difficulties of the position. The Arahura is unable to berth, and is standing out in the bay. All the rivers are in heavy flood, and further rain will result in them overflowing their bajiks.
