ANNUAL CONFERENCE.

(P*u United Psssa Association.) " WELLINGTON, July 31. The anwal conference of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association was opened to-day. Mr J. Mulvey (Wellington) presided.

After welcoming tho delegates, the president said he had not been m favour of a speedy conference, but ho fell in with the wishes of the majority. It was, in his opinion, unjust and unfair to criticise the classification in the hasty way that had beer: tho case. He believed the department had the intention and still had the desire to. redress legitimate grievances, and that it w oil Id do so in a way that would ultimately satisfy Jie service. If a further instalment of the war bonus was granted it would certainly lie a relief, but, after all, tho bonus was only a palliative, and not a remedy.
