SOME FURTHER PARTICULARS.

A statement has been published showing the different classes of people who pay income tax in which one or two items occur that have excited much curiosity. Und«r tho heading "salaried persons" two are returned in tho section " £7000 to £10,000 tier annum." Between them they , receive £15,560. In the professional section one man is returned with an income of £17,590 on which ho pays £6541 in tax. It is conjectured that he must bo either a lawyer or a doctor. There is also one non-resident trader whose income from Now Zealand is £37.313, his tax bein? £13.923. It is surprising to find that theatrical and other entertainments, 35 in number, show an income of only £4393 and pay £153 in taxes.
