W. \Vhke (Crown Prosecutor) made sympathetic reference to the death of Sir John Denniston, whom they described as an upright, fearless judge who maintained the best traditions of the British Bench. James Anglini Te Au, a Maori, for theft of money, was sentenced to two years' reformative treatment. George Townsend (aged 52 years), who pleaded guilty to a charge of serious assault on a. girl of 13 years, was sentenced to tiro years' imprisonment, with hard labour.
