KAHUIKA PEACE PICNIC
Peace Celebration Day (July 19) was very fittingly observed in Kahuika. The train service made it impossible for the school children to attend Ow-ika at the invitation of tho Jwaka Patriotic Committee, bo the Kahuika people decided to mako tho best of a bad job, and have a picnic and hold their own public celebrations. The fui-ction ra very well attended practically everyone in the district beinpresent Races were held for the children" and all joined in the games, all apparently enjoying themselves-. F,ach school child was presented with a silver peace medal (rem its teacher. Tho occasion wa S considered a fitting one to present to Mr ,V. (the 'joparting teacher) a gold medal as r. token of appreciation and esteem from tho people of the district A very enjoyable day came to a oloso as darkn=?s began to fall.
