ROXBURGH, Julv 27 At a r oo e n t meeting of the Tcviot Fruitgrowers* Association it was decided to secure the largo plantation of trees at laviot Station for case-making. For sonic time the- Finance Conimitteo of tlie association has been going into the cost of cutting, and as a result of its inquiries it recommended the iwanbss to acquire 'this block of. trees. Tho association has placed its order for this season's cases, but it is hoped to make a start cutting at Tcviot u r Christmas f °r tho requiremente of tho following season. Tbore is every indication of a verv heavy yiold of fruit, for next season. Pruning operations are well advanced, and growers are of opinion that with average weather conditions record crops shouk be general It is felt that the transport service of past years will not be adequate, and steps are being taken to place this on a satisfactroy basis, So important is this regarded that when tho mattor was discussed at tho last meeting of the association there was a general feeling that tho association should embark on tho carrying business, if other satisfactory arrangerronta were not possible The no-t-s of tho death at Pleasant Point of tho Rot. J. T. Guiini camo as a great shock to tho residents of this district, and espeoially to menvbors of tho Presbyterian Church, amongst whom ho ministered for many years. It is not many woeks since he left Roxburgh for Pleasant Point and as bo had always enjoyed • p od health, hia sudden death was a great blow to his many femds. Much sympathy is felt for hia widow and family.
