ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY

The regular meeting of the Council of the Jtago Acclimatisation Society was held last night; present—Messrs G. W. M'intcsh, Oowie, Hangerford, Islip, A. E Jenkins, C. Wilson, Black, C. S. Jenkins, Uiusins Rutherford, J. R. Wilson, Long ana Kobinson. It was resolved that the regular price for shags heads be 6s each for old birds aud 03 for young birds. The Game Committee reported that the Department for Internal Affairs had written stating that it would communicate later on regarding the feeding of-fern birds. Tho same department had written stating that permits to destroy deer specially stipulated that none of tho meat was to be sold. Tho Chairman mentioned that the Government could find no traco of the lagoon at Finnegand having been declared a sanctuary, but if it was desired'the lagoon could be declared a sanctuary.—lt was resolved to wnte to the present occupiers of the property on which the lagoon was situated asking if they wore agreeable to the lagoon being declared a sanctuary. The practice of having mia mias right out m the water by shooting men was adversely commented upon, it being considered that these should be kept on the bankß and points. The limitation of the number of decoys to be used by sportemsn was also referred to. It was remarked that there was plenty of time to consider these matters, and no decision was come to.
