HARRIERS.
«*» The Pacific Club held its Two-mile Handicap at Forbury Park under favourable conditions, the track being- in splendid order, and the weather all that could be desired. The nine starters were got away in good time, and A. Ritchie (the limit man) led the field round the first lap, although Hill and Grey were closing on him fast. In the second round Hill took first place, with Grey running second about five yards behind, while it was obvious that tho rest of the competitors were being left. After passing the post the third time, the two leaders began to open out, and a stiff pace down the back straight was maintained. Coming- up at the finish, Hill put on a sprint, and beat Grey for first place by about 15 yards; while Stark, who was some 200 yards behind Grey, gained third place. Result: M. Hill, Bsec, 1; A. E. Grey, lOsec, 2; W. Stark, 6sec, 3. Time, llroin Ssec. The Anglican Harriers ran from St. Mary's Schoolroom, Mornington. The trail led down into the Kaikorai Valley and up the opposite hills, turning towards Mount Grand. Near the southern reservoir the paper led the pack across the Kaikorai YaJley again at the southern end, and mounted the hills above Caversham, whence the road was followed home. In the run home for the points' competition, Burk was first and Edmond second. Afterwards the members spent a very pleasant evening -as guests of the young ladies of the parish. The St. Kilda Harriers held their first sports meeting at ITorbury Park under ideal weather- conditions. In the 100 Yards Boardman and Perry had a close finish, the former winning by about one yard. The 220 Yards Championship, which was a hard race, was won easily by Perry. In the Halfmile Smith took the lead from the start. and won easily, with Perry close up. Re-sults:-100 Yards Handicap—Boardman, 9yds, \l; Perry, scratch, 2; Eccles, 6yds, 3. Time, llsec. 220 Yards Championship—Perry 1, Morice and Govan 2. Time, 24sec. Halfmile Handicap— J. Smith, 45yds, 1; W. Perry, scratch, 2; K. Roy, 60yds, 3. Time, 2min 15sec. Broad Jump Handicap—R. Moir, 2ft 3in, 1; F. Morice, lft 6in, 2; J. Henderson, scratch, 3. There was a very_ large attendance of members of tho Civil- Service Harriers at the Caversham School on Saturday. Captain Mong led tho pack up Sidey's Hill to tho golf links, and followed the road to M'Laron's, thenco across country past the back of Hamilton's, and out on the road at Woodeaton. The road was then followed to Green Island, and the pack had a fast run along the Main South road to Burnsidc. Tho members returned home by the short cut, and down the Main South road from Lookout Point. At tho conclusion of the run the members 'were- entertained by Mr M'ong.
