MASONIC THANKSGIVING SERVICE.

«c» . There was a largo attendance at St. Paul's Cathedral yestarday, when a Masonic thanksgiving service was held. Over 600 Freemasons assembled; apart from the general public, and tho gathering completely fillsd tho building. Tho two D GM.'s— Bros. T Ross and J. J. Clark—occupied the poet of honour, and the District G.Ms for England, Scotland, and New Zealand— Bros. J. Webb D. Cooke, and R. Hawcridge,—with their attendants, woro also present. Tho Rev. H. O. Fenton, G. Chapkin, took tho service, and delivered: two short addresses on " Victory" and "Thanksgiving." The speaker briefly sketched tho incidents -which brought victory to _ our arms, and stressed the need of thaaksgiving now that wo wer3 once again at peace with tho world. A solo—" Hold Thou My Hand " —was finely rendered by Bro. W. Gemmoll, and a quintet—" Evening "=t-ttos sweetly sung by members of tho Masonio choir. The Primato was unable- to be present, aa ho had an engagement in the country. R.W. Bro Wobb. District Grand Master, Otago and Southland, E.C., read.the first lesson, and R.W. Bro, Hawcridgra, Provincial Grand Master, New Zealand Constitution, read the Bocond lesson. A collection was taken up m aid of tho cathedral funds, and realised £28 2a 6d.
