WESTERN TAIERI DRAINAGE BOARD.

Mr A. R. Kempshel' presided over the monthly .meeting of the Western laicri Liama ge Board held yesterday. Air L>. Smith, Henley, wrote regarding for repairs to a bridge on Berkley Henley.—Tho wriCar was referred back to the 'laieri County Council. Mrs F. M. Dow wrote with reference to tho cleaning of a drain.—The member for the subdivision (Mr Wylie) favoured tha work, and it was decided to carry it out. Messrs Jos. M'Neill and S. Sneil appeared before tho board to ask that some steps be take-i to drain awav water lying at Momona.—lt was resolved to put on additional men to clean Kirk's drain, to insert a culvert in Mr D. Miller's road, and dean tha drain furjjier up, these operations being' considered necessary to remove the water complained of. Matters concerning tho improvement of drainage at the southern ond of tho plain were further discussed. Thoso include tlia procuring of a plant to cut a channel through the lake to the Taieri outlet, to provide additional putotoiw plant at Henley, to renew the outlet box at tho Hoqloy bridge, and make up tho iako embankment. On tho question of a loan for these works a poll will likely bo taken when tho neooasiry preliminaries have been carried out. The board awaits a report from its engineer in tha matter.
