FIRES.
Tho Firo Brigade received a call shortly before midday yesterday to 163 Pacific street Koslyii, a chimney having caught fire. The firo hod, however, practically been got under before tho arrival of tho brigade. A wooden shed, situated on the eastern shore of tho harbour, in which wero housed a small pleasure launch and two dinghies, was completely destroyed by firo about 9 p.m. on Friday week. Tho shed was situated on the foreshore, between tho pev.-dor hulk and Waverley, and, together with tho launch and two dinghies was owned by Mr R. Johnston. Prao'tinaJly nothing of any value- is worth salvaging, and tho twisted parts of tho ongino of tho launch aro lying about the foreshoro. Tho launch and dinghies wore valued at about £100, and tho shed at £40. Tho launch, dinghies, and shed wore insured with the Ocean, Aocident, and Gaarantee Corporation for £90. Tho eauso of (hp firo so far remains a, mystery.
