(Received July 22, at 11.5 p.m.) Mr Devlin renewed the debate in the Houso of Commons on the Ratification Bill in tlie early hours of the morning, moving the rejection on the third reading as a protest against Mr Lloyd George's appeal to Irishmen to realise that Ireland was not a composite nation. " There can be no peace," said Mr Devlin, " until the Irish question id settled." Mr Lloyd George ridiculed the idea that he had taken up a new attitude. The Nationalists might have self-government, but they must not force it upon Ulster. The motion was rejected by 163 votes to
