CITY POLICE COURT.

Saturday, October 11. (Before Messrs D. Larnach and J. Wren, J.P's.) School Attendance Act.—James Bain was fined. 5s on each of three charges for failing to send his child to school.—A charge against Nicholas Edward was withdrawn, the child being over age.—John Smith was fined 5s upon each of two charges.—Mrs Charles Heath was charged upon two cases, and the heading was adjourned for a week. Alleged Tlieft.—Donald M'Corkindalc, alias Daniel M'Corkindale, was charged with having stolen from the dwelling of John Collins (Gladstone Hotel) an overcoat, valued at £2, the property of William Hogan; and also with the theft, from ike same place, of an overcoat, valued at ,C2 10c, the property of Henry Bruhns.—'Die Sub-inspector applied for a remand fill Monday' to enable tho accused to be brought before a. magistrate, it being an indictable offence.—The remand was granted.
