Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Duni .edin, subject to any necessary alterations, as under: — Overland, North, daily, 10.20 a.m. Lafe letters, J0.45; also on the mail van up to 11 a.m. Books and newspapers, 10 a.m. Late-fee letters must bear, in addition to the ordinary postage. Id. ! TUESDAY, OCTOBER- 14. For Northern Ports, per AVaihora, at 1.30 p.m. Late letters Port train, 2.30. FEDERAL SERVICE. For Australian States (via Hobart), Ceylon, India, China, Straats Settlements, Mauritius, South Africa, Mediterranean Ports, Continent of Europe, United Kingdom, etc., per south express, at 8 a.m. Late letters south express at 9.5 a.m. Due in London 23vd. November. ! Money orders close at 4 p.m.. parcels for Australian States at 3 p.m., registered letters, •at 5 p.m. on the 13th. j NOTE. The nostageson letters for Australia has been | reduced to penny for each half-ounce or ! fraction thereof. Newspapers for the Ausi tralian States (except .Queensland, which is Jd ' for every 2oz), one penny each. The public aTe reminded that the postage on newspapers for the United Kingdom, Queensland, and foreign countries is 3d for the first 4oz, and id for each additional 2oz; and unless 1 newspapers are fußy prepaid the department , cannot guarantee to forward them by the ■ quickest routes. | Mails for Australian States, Ceylon, China-, i India, Continent of Europe, and United King- ® dom, etc., will close at the Bluff on the 14th at 3.45 p.m. j Mails for Norfolk Island, per Southern Cross, ; close at Auckland on the 14th at 11 a.m. | Mails for Natal and Capetown, per Narrung,, | close at Sydney on the 10th November.
