EMIGRATION AGENTS.

A return of the various Emigration Age-nt« appointed by the General Government and the Agent-General, with the terms of their remuneration, has been laid on.the table of the House of Representatives. From this return we gather the following particulars :—

B. E. Fri berg, sent from New Zealand to Scandinavia, but now on his way back, hia mission having been useless. Salary, 18j per day as travelling expenses ; 10a for each statute adult obtained by him as an emigrant; and his passage to London-and back paid. Cost of passage to London, £84 15s.

Thomas Birch, sent from New Zealand to the United Kingdom. Terms of remuneration same as Mx Friberg's.

James Seaton, name as Mr Birch, except th&t his passage to'Eugland cost this Colony only £&5, as against Mr Birch's £100. ~.

N. W. FarualJ, sent'from New Zealand to perambulate Great Britain and the Continent of Europe. Terms, same as Messrs Birch and Seatori's. Cost of \nißsage to London, £80. llev. P. Barclay, appointed! by AgentGeneral to act in Scotland. Salary, £280 per annum, and iravelling'expenses. C. R. Christtania, £1 for each statute adult, up to 2000. Knorr and Co., Hamburg. Same terms as'Messrs'Winge and Co.

Local Agents in Britain—l2o in number. Terms, 10s per adult for married persons and single women, and 5s per head for single men.

No mention is made in the return of the Rev. D. Bruce, although it is only reasonable to suppose that his' travelling expenses at least were paid. It is also hot unlikely, that Messrs Birch and Senton may subsequently have higher pay given them ; for Dr Featheraton, in a letter published in the Daily Times of the 29th ult., expressed it as his opinion thjit the remuneration- above" stated would be "wholly inadequate to com[Kiliaate them for their expenses aud labour," and asked the Government to give them a fixed salary ; while the Government, through Mr Reeves, replied that the remuneration would bo left to DrFeather-

ston's discretion.
