ThebarqueGleusb.ee, wi,thacargo of cattle consigned to Messrs Wright, Robertson and Co., reached port in the forenoon.- She left the same day as the Airedale, and has brought her> cargo of nearly 200 head without any loss. The Lombard, the Gazelle, and the Yarrow were to follow from VI ellington for Otago with stock, the > arrow having already sailed, but put back in consequence of damage to her fittings, her cargo beiog principally fat cattle.
'Ihe Queen steamer sailed punctually at 8 a.m., having exceeded her appointed time in anticipation of * the probable arrival of the English mail,, and as punctually at noou the Airedale sailed, her trip on this occasion being to Lyteiton, Wellington, and JNelson.
Port Chalmers lias been busy all daywitii pleasure parties passing to and Iro, in steamers and aailiug uoats, in the enjoyment of their Christinas holiday, the weather having been throughout unusually favorable. The Sainaon conveyed to Waikouaiii a large number of passeng rs, who landed there and who enjoyed themwelve* amazingly oa shore as'tliey did on board, tripping it on " the. light fantastic toe," and deriving considerable ' amusement from friend'y couiuiuniou with the Maori resident, of the place. The Lady Barkly also took a good deck-load to the Heads, where they were lauded, and permitted to exercise their own free will in the way of selecting sources of enjoyment, and do/.ens of pic-nic parties, as they arrived, at the Port from i)unedin, proceeded ttieuce to choice spots in the neighborhood, Where the conventional means of amusement were adopted, under circumstances most favorable to their full success.
