ARRIVAL OF THE EMMA PRESCOTT, WITH ENGLISH NEWS.

The arrival of the Emma Prescott has placed us in possession of the news by the English Mail. The Emma Prescott sailed from Hobart Town on the isth instant, and has made an excellent trip, bringing a cargo of timber and forty horse 3, only one of which has been , lost. We are indebted to the courtesy of Captain Stanton and of the agents, A. Gr. Fisber and • Co., for the Hobart Town Advertiser of the 15th, containing the intelligence. The news from America is important, and . shews that the tide of victory is still with the '* Confederates. The intelligence by the pre- [ ceding mail of the successes by the Federals ' is not confirmed, and appears to be somewhat * unreliable. The Federal army, under - M'Clellan have advanced upon Charles--1 ton, and the Confederates have [ recrossed the Potomac in safety. One of the I most important items oi' intelligence is the i issue of a Proclamation by Lincoln, of the . emancipation of the slaves, which has produced £ general condemnation throughout Europe. o D — «•
