THE BAZAAR.
{To the JSditor of the Daily Times.) Sir,- -The cleric of the weather evidently has, to use colonial parlance, a "down" upon bazaars. Probably he has not forgotten how w^, Victorians were fleeced at the .Bazaars in the olden times in Melbourne and is endeavouring to save us from a second infliction. If such is the desire of that mythical individual his solicitude in the present instaace is quite unnecessary, and in. the manner he affords it, cau only Ibe regarded as an impertinence, inasmuch. as the charges for the various articles at. the Dunedin Bazaar are moderate in the extreme, and I can vouch for many being sold entirely below their value. Therefore, I think it a pity that so praiseworthy a movement, in aid of so excellent an object should be shorn of its legitimate result through the vagarie3 of out friend " the clerk," and I would suggest that the Bazaar and Exhibition should not close to-day, but that some day during the Christmas holidays next week, say Boxing Day, should be set apart. It can surely not rain for ever and ever. I know dozens, ladies especially, who have liad do chance of visiting the place. I am just reminded that a clearing sale is advertised for to-day. Should it even take place, there will be ample time and plenty of wijling contributors to replenish the stalls in a lew days. I am, &c, "A Victorian." Dunedin, 20th December.
