REPORTED RICH FIND.
SEVENTY-SIX POUNDS WEIGHT OF GOLD.
We were yesterday favored with a sight of a private letter, received by a respectable resident of Dunedin from a business correspondent at the Upper Township, Dunstan, in which occurs the following paragraph:-—" A party of men have just come to the camp with 76 pounds (912 ounces) gold." We give the exact phraseology of the letter. The writer gives no hint as to where the gold was obtained, nor as to the time occupied in procuring it, indeed he says no more upon the subject. We give the report for what it is worth. The letter we should mention, bears date December 11. ; The last letter from our own correspondent is dated December Bth, but our last news was to the 9th, the day on which the escort left. It is somewhat singular that such extraordinary news should not have reached us sooner.
