The ship Time and Truth, which sailed this morning, is understood to be chartered to carry sheep from Melbourne to this port, during the ensuing season, alone witli the other vessels belonging to the same owners.

The schooner Cecilia sailed for Chatham Islands on Monday morning, but returned in the afternoon, in consequence of contrary weather. The weather having favored, she sailed again to-day. On the occasion of her first departure, she got foul of a vessel in port, hy a simple accident, and carried away her main-topmast.

The Dunedin schooner, which had been for .some days anchored in the Channel, sailed on Saturday, for Invercargill. The Triton, also anchored inside the Heads, went out to-day, with a fair wind. Telegraphic communication between Dunedin and Port Chalmers was to-day interrupted by the thunderstorm of the afternoon. The operators, anticipating that the wires would be affected by the storm, disconnected the instruments, and thus averted any serious damage, but the wires received the lightning to such an extent that ihe gutta percha which insulates the wires in the office wan fused as if submitted to extreme heat, and sparks passed from wire to wire with a vividness and frequency which made the operator's occupation far from an enviable one. The supposition, in the mean time, is that the wire has been affected at the higher points al'.mg the line ; where it would be more liable to the influence of the storm.
