Government Notices. OTAGO GOVERNMENT TOWN LAND SALES. Sections in PALMERSTON Township, will be sold at the Police Station, Hawkesbury, oa Wednes- , day, the 26th Novembee, at 12 o'clock. The Township of Palmerston is situate at the entrance of the Waihemu Valley, in the neighborhood of Puketapu, about 35 miles from Dunedin. 40 from Oamaru, and 8 from Waikouaiti. There is a good upply of Timber in the neighborhood, and Coal is obtainable at Vulcan Point, a distance of 6 miles. The town i 3 intersected by the main road to the^ Dunstan diggings from Waikouaiti, and is situate in the centre of one ofthe finest agricultural districts in this Province. Limestone of a superior quality to any hitherto obtained, has lately been discovered. From its situation at the junction of the main North and South roads, with the road to the interior and the diggings ; it is believed Palmerston will become the "en'tre of a large traffic, and is- destined to be one of the chief inland towns of Otago. THE Government of Southland is open to receive Tenders hereat, till noon, of Ist December, next, for the execution of the undermentioned Works on the Campbelltown-road, viz. :-- Earthwork on andnear.the Mokomoko Range ; Cuttings in Hill, about 30 chains in length, estimated to contain 8,000 cubic yards, partly stone, covering the roadway about 75 chains with manuka fascines one fogt thick, and forming thereon, and on the .natural" for 18 chains at the south end of bush£ with tbe material from tbe cuttings—embankments averaging 21 feet wide and 1 foot 6 inches high- at crown, about 90 chains in all; Metalling the whole length, 123 chains with stone from the cuttings, 14 feet wide, 8 inches deep in centre, and 6 inches at sides.
