Admiral Fitzßoy Anticipated.—A very singular lacr on the subject of electricity is mentioned by Binnchini. Tliere had existed fsoni time immemorial in one of the bastions of the Castle of Duino, situated in tlie Froine, on the banks cf the Adriatic, apoirted iron icd, standing in. a vertical position. In summer, when the weather had the appearance of being ktormy, the soldier who mounted guard in this bastion examined the hon rod, and presented to it the point ot an iron halbert, whicb -was always ready for this purpose, and whenever he perceived that ltlie iron rod gave sparks, cr displayed a small trace o fire nt it« point, hp rang a bell, to give notice to the country people working in the fields, or to the fishermen who were at sen, that stormy weather was approaching This custom was of great antiquity, and Ls men' tioned by Imperati, in a letter dated 1*602.-— Times.
