ARRIVAL OF THE OMEO WITH THE SEPTEMBER MAILS.
By the Omeo, which arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday, we are in tho receipt of news by the English mail to September 26th, and by telegraph to October 4th. The following is the Argus summary of intelligence:— LATEST TELEGRAMS. (via jubai..) London, Oct. 2, 7.0 p.m. Arrived.—Amazon, Rifleman, Arabella, and Claremont. The campaign in Maryland terminated after three great battles. The Confederates re-cro3sed the Potomac in good order. The carnage was immense. Fourteen Federal generals were killed or wounded. Harper's Feiry was taken by Sconewail Jackson, and afterwards evacuated. The Federal garrison at Murafordville, Kentucky, surrended to General Bragg, London, Oct 4. Great battle fought in Maryland. 20,000 killed. Confederates retired across the Potomac. General amnesty has been granted to Garibaldi and hi 3 followers. Consols, 94.
