Respecting Deserter from the Army and Navy, Attorney-General's Office, .—— Auckland, sfch April, 1802. fjIREQuENT instances having occurred of De I sertion from Her Majesty's' Sea and Lan Forces in-this Colony, Notice is hereby given, that the most rigorous proceeding's will be taken against any person enticin« away, harboring, concealing, or employing Deserters. CLADSSS OF IMmiUAgrs EELATING Nava.li Desertion. 10 and 11 Viet., chap. 62, sec. 11. And be it enacted, That every person who, b words or any otlier means whatsoever, shall persuade any person in Hyr Majesty's Navy to desert, or improperly absent himself from his duty, shall forfeit and pay the sum of twenty pounds for every such act; and every person who shall assist or procure an person in Her Majesty's Navy to desert, or impro perly absent Mmself from his duty ; or shall conceal employ, or continue to employ any person bekm-'iu" to Her Majesty's Navy, who shall be a deserter or improperly absent from his duty, knowing him to be such a desertor, or so improperly absent, shall forfeit and pay the sum of thirty pounds for every such assistance, procurement, concealment, employment or coutnming of employment, as aforesaid.'' AIAKINE i>ESEKTION. 21 Viet., cap. 7, sec. 54. - - Any person who shall, iv any part of Her Majes ys dominions, by words or any other means whatsoever, directly or indirectly, procure any Marine to desert; or shall by words or by any other means whatsoever, attempt'to procure or persuade any Manne to de-sert; aud any person who, knowing' that Marine is about to desert, shall aid or assist him iv deserting; or, knowing any Marine to be a deserter "hall conceal such deserter, or aid or assist such' eserter m concealing himself, or aid or assist in h s fescue, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall, on couvictioD there.f, be liable to be ! punkhed by fine or imprisonmeut, or both, as the Court before which such conviction shall take place may adjudge.
