A PROCLAMATION (From the New Zealand Gazette, Oct. 22, 1862.) For bringing "The Weights and Meajr 'Mires Ordinance Amendment Act, 1 1861," into operation. • By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand arid its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c, &c. Tin HEREAS an Act was passed by the V V General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled " The Weights aad Measures Ordinance Amendment A*et, 1861," and whereas by the same Act it was provided that the same should come into operation from and immediately after the passing 8 thereof, so far as regards the importation and deposit of Standards, the verification of copies and models, and the appointment of persons for carrying the Act into execution, and in all other respects the Act should come into operation on some day to be fixed by the Governor in Council, "and to be notified in the Government Gazette of the Colony. Now therefore I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, do hereby fix the date hereof as the day on which the said Act shall in such respects as aforesaid come into operation. Provided that nothing in this Proclamation contained shall be construed as extending the operation of the said Act to any town or district in the Colony, except such town or district as shall be duly appointed and defined by the Governor for that purpose in pursuance of the provisions of the said Ordinance and Act. Given under my hand, at the Government House, at Auckland, and issued under the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand, this eighteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two. A PROCLAMATION For hinging Ordinance Session. 7, No. 10, and " The Weights and Meastcrcs Ordinance Amendment Act, 1861," into operation within a District in the \ Province of Otago. By his Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c, &c, &g. \ WHEREAS it is expedient to bring into operation within a portion of the Province of Otago the Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance for establishing Standard Weights and Measures, and for the prevention of the use of such as are false and deficient," Session 7, No. 10, and an Act entitled " The Weights and Measures Ordinance Amendment Act, 1861." Now therefore I, Sir George .Grey, the Governor of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority in me vested in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and appoint that from the twenty-fourth day of November next the operation of the said Ordinance and Act shall extend to the following District, situate in the Province of Otago in the said Colony, that is to say :— Commencing at the junction of the Scrub Burn and the Clutha liiver; thence by the Scrub Burn to its sources; thence by the watersheds of the Tuapeka stream and Clutha River to the Lammerlaw; thence by the watersheds of the Waipori and Lee, and Traquhar streams to Mangatua; thence by the boundary of the West Taieri and North Tbkomairiro Hundreds to the North branch of the Tokomairiro River; thence by the Tokomairiro River to the main south road ; thence by the said road to its intersection with Lovell's Creek; thence by Loveil's Creek to the boundary of run numbered 54; thence by the boundary of the said run to a point situated north-east of the sources of the Crook Burn; tnence by a southwesterly line to the sources of Crook Burn; thence by the Crook Burn to its junction with the Clutha River; thence' by the Clutha River to the starting point.
