The Matador reached Port at noon. She lefh Melbourne on iJio 22.'id ult. Experienced moderate weafclicr uutil the 2'jth, when she encountered a very severe gale, httirly with a heavy sea. During the last twelve hours-1, of its prevalence the vessel shipped Borne heavy f.eas, which made n clear breach ov r her. Subsequently N.E. winds with fog1, and occasional squalls were experienced. Greater part of her cargo is eonsijrnw.i to the Dunedin Gas Company.

Tlie Prairie, which was towed up along with the Matador, lias gone to a berth close to the bench, for the- purpose of fli-ch arming her horses, of which the has brought lier original consignment of 32 without loss When she left Hobart Town, the Tamar was preparing for departure The .Spray, with ti3 passengers from Sydney, passed up to'towu in the afternoon. In addition to passengers she has some cargo, consisting chiefly of maize. Had a considerable spell of thick weather, and head winds. From Capt. Wall we have Sydney papers to the 2-ltli ult. Tlir: Vixen, previously reported ac having put into the BluifoT1. her passage hither from Sydney, arrived in Port to-tl-ay. She has had a very lengthy passage, having left Sydney on the 30th of September, but the passengers seem all to be highly satisfied with Capt. Grieve, and liis treatment of them during the time. A few days aft;r leaving Sydney, she spied the schooner Olutha, from Auckland, and on October 7th jn !at. 35 30, and long. 158 E., spoke the whaling barque, Minerva, of .New Bedford, Capt. Pemiiman, with 1/200 barrels of oil. The Vixen put into the Bluff to obtain water, and remained three days. Th' nee had lo beat up to Orago Heads. The Juno is from the Bluff, after discharging part of her freight of horses. She has also some general cargo, but does not discharge it here. Previous to the Juno sailing from the Bluff, an attempt had been made to raise the Flying Mist, but it had meantime failed. The passengers by the Aboukir, proceeded to town to-day by the Samson. As reported, the vessel left Glasgow on the Ist of August; crossed'the line on the thirty-third day out; and made the Snares on Friday last. Though some heavy weather was experienced, she lost nothing during the passage. As mentioned, three deaths occurred, one oeiug caused by premature confinement. The Sevilla having sailed iroin the Clyde on the same day, may now be daily expected, succeeded by the Broomilaw and Pladda. ,
