Respecting Deserter lrom the Army and Navy. 1 Attorney-General's Ofiice, • Auckland, stb April, 1862 , IjIREQUENT instances having occurred of Da 1. seition from Her Majesty^ Sea and Lan Forces in this Colony, T Notice is hereby given, tbat the most rigorous proeeeum^-s will be-taken against any person enticina away, harboring, concealing, or employing Deserters. The enactments relating to the above oftenca are subjoined for information. FRANCIS D. FF.NTON, Assistant Law Officer. CLAUSES OF IMPERIAL ACTS RELATING TO DESERTERS. Naval Debertiok. 10 and 11 Vict., chap. 62, sec. 11. And be it enacted, That every person who b wows or any other means whatsoever, shall persiide any person m Her Majesty's Navy to desert or improperly absent himself from his duty, shall forfeit and pay the sum of twenty pounds for every such act; and every person who shall assist or procure any person in Her Majesty's Navy to desert, or improperly absent himself from his duty • or shall conceal fflr \? r-C°iQ^^ t0 QmV h * , any P ersott belonging to Her Majesty's Navy, who shall be a deserter or improperly absent from his duty, knowing him to' be such a deserter, or so improperly absent, shall forfeit and pay the s-ataot thirty pounds for every such Ssistance, procurement, concealment, employment, or continuing of employment, as aforesliid."
