There is a good supply of Timber iu the neighborhood, and Coal is obtainable at Vulcan Point, a distanee of 6 miles. The town isinter?ected by the main road to the Dunstan diggings from Waifcouaiti, and is situate in the centre of one ofthe finest agricultural districts in this Province.. Limestone of a superior quality to any hitherto obtained, has lately heen discovered. From its situation at the junction of the main North and South roads, with the road Jo the interior and the diggings ; it is believed Palmerston will become tlie centre of a large traffic, and i?, destined to be one of the chief inland towns of Otago.
