The town is intersected by the main road to the Dun stan digsrings from Waikouaiti, and is situate in the centre of one of the finest .agricultural districts in this Province. Limestone of a superior quality to any hitherto obtained, has lately been discovered. From its situation at the junction of the main North and South roads, with the road to the interior and the diggings ; it is believed Palmerston will become t°e centre of a large traffic, and is destined to be one of the chief inland towns of Otago.
