Daily Times Office, Thursday Evening. The ErTglish mail, ex Aldinga, was delivered yesterday morning. The extracts of trade intelligence already published by us fire such as chiefly refer to matters interesting our market. The progress of the wool sales were but moderately satisfactory, and buyers of this staple are likely to be very cautious in the rates they give during the ensuing season. Departures from Bri'ain for Otago were moderate. The followiug vessels have cleared for Otago. We-i should first mention the Planter, 2:lnd May, from London. .Star of Tadiuauia, 623 tons, 26Lh July, from London. Aboukir, 927 tons, 291h July, from the Clyde. Scoresby. 785 tons. 30fc'i July, from London. Sevilla, 503 tons, 31st July, from the Clyde. These vessels bring a considerable aggregate of passengers as well as useful cargoes. At London the Cluli, baraii, Empress of India, and Ebenezer were loading ; at Clyde, the Storm Cloud ; and tlie Chariot of Fame from Liverpool, for Melbourne, Auckland, and Otago. £■ The. trade news is not such as materially to affect our market in any respect. From Melbourne a fair amount of passengers were leaving, and rather free shipmentsof mei-chandisc were making. The principal arrival of cargo here this "week lias been the Alice Thoradyke, from British Columbia, bringing some 600,000 feet of assorted pine timber. We hear of a large sale from this cargo at a price not transpired, but believed to be LlO per thousand. The Lady Young, from the same quarter, is j now due, with some '250,000 feet of similar limber. J Drayage for the miues is offering at lower rates, and as soon as the weathi r becomes more settled, we may look to see some considerable parcels of goods despatched for the mining districts. The Louisa lias arrived with a considerable parcel of flour, from Adelaide. The Austral is also about due from the same cmarter; she brings stock, but some flour al-o, although we believe the latter is intended for another province. Export entries were passed at the Custom House to-day for 44 ozs of gold, the duty amounting to L 5 12s. | iThe Customs revenue for the day amounted |to L 616 6s Id, the following being the principal items: — Brandy, 179 gals, LBl 7s lid; geneva, 269 gals, L 122 10s lOdj whisky, 136 gals, L 6 14s; coffee, 984 lbs, Ll2 63 ; sugar, «207 lbs, L 34 3s lid ; tea, 2105 lb, L 35 Is 8d; wine, 124 gals, LlB 12s; cigars, 86 lb, Ll2 18s: tobacco, 741 lb, L32 lla 6d; beer, 1732 gals (bottled), LBl 14s.
