DUNEDIN LIVE STOCK MARKET

Driver, Maclean & Co.'s report for weekending 18th October, 1862:-• Fat Cattle -The supply has been confined to one lot of about fitty head, which, being very pjrol, were taken by tiio trade at fully last week's quot tions. Cattle of really good qnalifcy are in good demand, find we think will maintain their present value during the season. Inferior stock are only saleable at greatly reduced rates. We will sell on Monday, at our yards, a mob from the station of Messrs Holmes and Morton, said to be the' Guest lot of cuttle ever offered in this innrket. We quote first quality cows and bullocks at Go* to 70s per 100 lbs; second ditto, at 503 to 55s per 100 lbs. Fat Calves are in demand, but very scarce ; •would readily bring (if of good quality) L5 to L6. Stork Cattlk. —Transactions in this Province have been very limited. We are however, in treaty for the sale of two large mobs. We hear of one or two large transactions in Canterbury, intended, we believe, for this market. We quote first-class stores, ar'edtwoto seven years, at Ll2 to Ll4; ordinary mixed herds, L9 to Lll 10s. Fat (Shkep are in active demand at last quotations. We sold at the yards a lot of 500 wethers <very fine mutton), from the station of Charles 1). Teschetnaker, Esq., at an average of 41s 6d per head, average "53 to 54 U>. We do not look for any reduction -"in (town) prices, say about 94 per. lb, until after shearing, when we must expect a large supply and a sHght decline in price. Store Sheep of any class are saleable, if delivery is riven prior to shearing; there are, however, a few buyers of shorn ewes and wethers, but we hear of no iTS? B^Ss as* Dai bt Cows^he former are in demand-say for imported bullocks, m Sod condition, at Lls' to' LSO per pair.;, provincial £-A do. LSO to L6oj quiet dairy cows, springing, or "7h young calves at foot, Lls to L2O, according to jize, and condition.

Statios PRoPfettT*.— We have sold tl^e fiyde Florae station, situated in southern j?art-of the province, containing sU,tioo «-.cres. -with 4,000 sheep, i horses, plant, &c., at LI 1,500, delivery before shearing- ' ' ' ... .. ' " '; ■'" ; HoitSEH.r-Most of the large importations Vve been worked off at very satisfactory prices, and we have still a #ood denund for dvaugl.t-feiock and fair hackneys. The market, closed with a very active demand, and we anticipate high prices during the coming week for good stock. . . , - Driver, Maclhan & Co., Stcek and Station Salesmen.

Wright, Robertson and Co's report for the-week ending 18th October, 1862: The business in this "market during the week has been characterised by a great want of animation, butchers generally having some stock on hand. We do not anticipate any very-active demand before the cud of next week. Fat Cattle, of prime quality, are worth 65s to 70s ps-r 100 lbs. The price, however, is likely to ' improve, a great demand for beef having sprung up ! at the various diggings, all of which are now-thronged with population. We hwe sold, tor delivery at Diinstau, a mob of fair, fat cattle, afc £25 pr;r head. * Stork Cattle.—A good demand sfill continues for fair, well bred cattle, which wo quote at from LlO to Lll 2 years and upwards. We l.aye refused Ll*2 j 10s for a mob of 300. A considerable proportion being bullocks, over 4 years old. Fat Sheep continue in demand. We have sold one flock of 1,500, guaranteed 50 lbs, at 32s G\l, delivered on station. We have buyers for more at the same price. > ' ' Stove Sitiml. —\\ ethers, 4 and 6 tooth, are much wanted, and would fetch 25s to 263. Station Pkopektjt. — Wumerous enquiries by capitalists from Australia, and others liave been made during- the week for sheep runs, and we expect several properties will shortly change hands.
