The rebuilding of the burnt parts of Paternosterrow^ makes very slow progreas. Messrs. Blackie and boa s new house Is nearly completed, but laborers are only working at the fou.n.lationH of Messrs. Longmans'; and the ruiua of Messrs. Ulackvrood and Son's are standing untouched.
Thc^ Scottish Press and the Ediniurqh News nave oeeii Bold by public auction. There was no aorapetition, and the two papers were knocked down ct the upset price of L 750 to Mr. George Mackay, of the Strathearn Herald.
