13th September, 1862. The establishment of two steam companies in the Province within a tevr weeks of each other, indicate* a strong confidence in the commercial resources of the country. The splendidly paying trips of the two little Wellington boata, the Wonga and the Storm Bird, in which the latter has earned about L 450. and the former ia expected to make LSOO at least, will encourage and stimulate the Wanganoi Company. Our stock market is still buoyant, notwithstanding the attempt of a Southern speculator to beat it down, while Northern meu are willing to pay L7 a head for mixed herds, L 2 10s. will not induce many of our graziers to part with anything but calves.
