THE INCREASED PRICE OF THE "TIMES.'
{To Uie Editor of the Daily Timks.)
Sin, —From a recent notice in an impression of your paper, it appears that an increase of price haH become a matter of necessity. If this increase of price if due to an increase of demand, permit rue. as an occasional reader to compliment you. and the Ounedin press generally, on what I view as the most certain index ot increasing intelligence and healthy vitality of the commercial community of Otago. iii-t.;i:i;i!j3 have hitherto taken roads, bn fges, and cr.nals as an index of a country's internal prosperity. It will be a guarantee for your clean hands, clear head, and honest heart; an. I as such, Mr. Kditor, I will never grudge the extra price, if you furnish a genuine artiel.■. I am, Sir, With much respect, Yours obediently, J. Forsytu. Pelichet Bar, August 22, 18Q2.
