This step is found necessary, not only because since the excitement concerning the new diggings, the proprietors have had to raise Compositor's wages fifty per cent., namely, from Is. 6d. to 2s. 3d. per thousand, but also, because the present prices are inadequate —they were originally fixed when the paper was a quarter its present size.
