The South AiiHlraliitn IlajiMrcr of the g.hd gives the lollow nig report of tlie produce market :— "The improvement noted in produce in our ia<t T month's circular Continued without interruption until about ten days since, and prices advanced daily. Very | heavy sales (both of wheat and dour) took place u t ! these advanced rates both to .spemilaiep.--'a,,,] also in execution of orders from the other ooi.-uies ; but since their tliere has been little or nothing doing. The natural eom-equenee lias been that these prices', which were only e.iused by the teporary demand' which exisled, have not been maintained;"but notwithstanding the value is much higher than we quoted last month. Tnere is very little flour being pressed upon the market, as holders generally anticipate that it will soon recover its late buoyancy. " Flour. —In consequence of the demand noted above, the price of Hour advanced to C, Ids, for silk dressed, and £12 10. to £l:j for wire dres,ed, at which rates large sales were made. But althnu.h there have been no sales siu-c, yet we have no doubt it could be purchased rather und. r there latf s. '* Wheat has been eii'-eted even more than flour, and the demand tor it was so great that tor some time the price rose :il per bushel daily until it reached ;m KMd per busb.-l. This was a state of things which could nut last very long, and accordingly, when all tne export orders on hand had been exercsul, the pr.ee reeele 1 again, and it has since been sold at as •id per bushel; but if fresh orders were to f-ome h would soon rally again, for the quantity ottering for .'-ale is very limited. '• Bran has been in very good demand, and purchases to som3 extent have been made tor export. Th • price has consequently advanced, and it is now worth about Is lid to is 2d per bushel. " Oats and barly have »>oth ii-en in value during the month, caused by Melbourne orders. lleavv purchases Cape borlyhove Wen made, at prices varying from 4s (id to 4s Ltd per bushel. Very few oats are offeaing. if they had been obtainable in quantity, there were plenty of purchasers fbr them on Melbourne account also. " Farm and Dairy Produce —There is liitlo w«rth\ of notice. The market is well supplied with eggs, bacon, hams, and butter, aud tin re is very little alteration in the prices. There have been >ome'■--portaiions of potatoes fiom Warnaiubool, which aye cau sec a reduction in the.price of those grown nthis colony." Tiie Melbourne Herald ofthe 22th ult, make} the t..-Mowing remarks: — "Import Mauici'/i's. Home mo< era -: sized parcels of tobacco, consisting chiefly os aromatic, have changed hands to-day at. about tlie same rates as were obtained last week at auction. Oats are iv good trade demand at last quotations. Case whisky is scarcely so well supported, and we hear that high duty can be brought at 17s. Coilee is in gond demand for shipment to the other colonies ; stocks are getting low, and there ia only one shipment to arrive.
