"VTOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to the JJi " Reinstation of Electors' Act, 1858," the Lists of Voters for the Electoral Districts of the City ol'Duuedin, Hampden, and Bruce, will be revised, and objections will be heard by the Revising Officer, in open Court, at the Town Board Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday, the 2nd day of July next, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon. The names and particulars of abode and qualification of every duly qualified person omitted, who shall prove to have given due notice of his claim, will be inserted. Any mistakes which shall appear in the list of Voters will be corrected. The name of every person whose qualification, as stated in such list, shall be insufficient in law to entitle such person to vote. Also the name of every person proved to be dead, and every name which shall be proved to be fictitious, will be expunged. . . The names of persons whose Christian names or places of abode are incorrectly staled, or the nature or description of whose qualification shall be wholly omitted, or whose name, places of abode, or the nature or description of whose qualification are insufficiently described for the purpose of being- identified, will be also expunged, unless the matter so omitted or insufficiently described be supplied to the satisfaction of the Revising Officer, before he shall have completed the revision of such list of voters. "OREQUENT instances having occurred of DeJO Eertion from Her Majesty's Sea and Land Forces in this Colony, Notice is hereby given, that the most rigorous proceedings will be taken against any person enticing' away, harboring, concealing, or employing Deserters. The-enactments relating to the above ofl'ence are subjoined for information. FRANCIS D. FENTON, Assistant Law Officer. CLAUSES OF IMPERIAL ACTS RELATING TO DESERTERS. Naval Desertion. 10 and 11 Vfci., chap. 62, sec. 11. ' And be it enacted, That every person who, by words or any other means whatsoever, shall persuade any person in Her Majesty's Navy to desert, or improperly absent himself from his duty, shall forfeit and pay the sum of twenty pounds for every such act; and every person who shall assist or procure any person in Her Majesty's Navy to desert, or improperly absent himself from his duty; or shall conceal empiov, or continue to employ any person belonging to Her Majesty's Navy, who shall be a, deserter, or improperly absent from his duty, knowing liim to be such a desertor, or so improperly absent, shall forfeit and pay the sum of thirty pounds for every such assistance, procurement, concealment, employment, or continuing of employment, as aforesaid." Marine Desertion. 21 Viet., cap. 7, sec. 54. " Any person who shall, in any part of Her Majesy's dominions, by words or any other means whatsoever, directly. or indirectly, procure any Marineto desert; or shall by words or by any other means whatsoever, attempt to procure or persuade any Marine to desert; and any person who, knowing that Marine is about to desert, shall aid or assist him in deserting; or, knowing any Marine to be a deserter, sliall conceal such deserter, or aid or assist such ieserter in concealing himself, or aid or assist in his rescue, shall "be dceraed guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall, on conviction thereof, be liable to be punished by fine or imprisonment, or both, as the Court before which such conviction shall take place ■may adjudge." Military Desertion. 21 Viet., cap. 9, Sec. 88.
