WAITAHUNA.
(COMMUNICATED.)
A public meeting was held at the Miners' Arm 3, Waitahuna, on Monday- evening, 9th iust., for the purpose of memorialising the government, through Captain Baldwin, Commissioner, for a -sufficient amount of money to have the roa'ls made through these diggings. The meeting was well attended. Dr. Samuels was called to the chair j when the following gentlemen addressed it: —Messrs. Harris, Moses, Kirkhouse, A. Hearn, and others. The resolutions unanimously carried were —
"Ist. That a committee be at once appointed, to consist of the following gentlemen :—Messrs. Reid, Fitzpatrick, Jones," Harris, Beamish, M'Grrepjor, Kirkhouse, aad Samuels, to wait on Capt. Baldwin.
It was next proposed and carried, that Dr. Samuels be instructed to draw up a memorial, and to obtain as many signatures to it as possible, in order to show the feeling of tlie'public as regards the actual requirements, the road being at the present in an impassible state. .
A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
