This has been a strict holiday at Port Chalmers in the shipping department. ■ The only departures were the Geelong steamer and the brig Missie, and there were no arrivals, the. Wm. Buchanan being Btill near the Heads. The regatta was the sole source of attraction throughout the day, both to those resident in the Port,-and the thousands from Dunedin and elsewhere who came to spend the holiday, and it proved to be a very worthy source of attraction, the whole programme having been gone through to the perfect satisfaction of the committee, and to the evident gratification of the many spectators.
