"VTOTICB is hereby given, that in future no CertiJJN ■ ficates of Occupation will be issued for Town Sections, but that (Jrowu Grants will be prepared immediately after the payment of th« purchase money. Separate grents will be prepared for each Section, unless the purchaser at the time of payment, requests more than one section to lie included in one grant—a request that can only be complied with where the sections arc contiguous, or are divided only by a road lino, or by at most two sections. Crown Grants of Sections in the Township of Oamaru will be prepared immediately, and any pur- . chaser requiring Grants to bo made of more than one section iv one grant, must make his request in writing, to be delivered at the Crown Grant Office, on or before the 20th day of May next. Attorney-General's Office, Auckland, sth April, 1862. FREQUENT instances having occurred of Desertion from Her Majesty's Sea and Laud " Forces in this Colony, _ Notice .is hereby given, that the most rigorous proceedings will be taken against any person enticing away, harboring, concealing, or employing Deserters. The enactments relating to the above, oifence are subjoined for information. FRANCIS D. FENTOA T, Assistant Law Officer. CLAUSES OF IMPERIAL ACTS RELATING TO DESERTERS. Naval D uaisßTi^N. 10 and 11 Viet., elMp. 62, sec. 11. " And be it .enacted, That every person who, by words'or any other means whatsoever, shall persuade any person in Her Majesty's Navy to desert, or improperly absent himself from his duty, shall forfeit and pay the sum of twenty pounds for every such act; and every person who shall assist or procure any person in Iler Majesty's Navy to desert, or improperly absent himself from his duty ; or shall conceal, employ, or continue to employ any person belonging to Her Majesty's Navy, who shall be a. deserter, or improperly absent from his duty, knowing him to bs such a des>erlor, or so improperly absent, shall forfeit and pay the sum of thirty pounds for every such assistance, procurement, concealment, employment, or continuing of employment, as aforesaid." Makinb Desertion. 21 Viet., cap. 7, sec. 54. " Any person who shall, in any part of Her Majesty's dominions, by words or any other means whatsoever; directly or indirectly, procure any Marine to desert; or shall by words or by iiny other means whatsoever, attempt to procure or persuade any Marine to desert; and any person who, knowing that Marine is about to desert, shall aid or assist him ia deserting; or, knowing any Marine to be a deserter, shall conceal such deserter, or aid or assist such deserter in concealing himself, or aitr or assist in his rescue, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and .shall, on conviction thereof, be ' liable "to bs punished by fine or imprisonment, or both, as the Court before which such conviction shall take placs may adjudge."
