SALE OF TOWN LAND WITHOUT AUCTION IN PARTICULAR CASES.

An Ordinance approved by the Government in 183S, further provides that in particular cases, where considered advisable, the Waste Land Board may, with the approval of the Superintendc'it and Executive Council, sell " Town Lauds" without auction. The following tire the important clauses. ■ 1. In all crises wherein parties shall apply by Petition to the Waste Land Hoard, sotting forth the circumstances of their case, ifc shall be lawful for the Waste Land Board, with approval of the Suporintendund and Executive Council first obtained, to sell Town Land, except lands within the limits of the Towns of Diine.-lin and Port Chalmers, without exposing the same to auction, at Encli price as shall lie fixed by the Waste Land Board and approved of as aforesaid, such price not being less than the upset •price,,if .such land had been exposed to sale by auction. 2. If any Trustees for any religions body shall so apply for liberty to purchase a site for a Church or other buildings for religions purposes in any Town, \t shall be lawful for the Waste Land Board, .with the approval of the Superintendent and Executive Council first obtained, to sell to such Trustees for such purposes not excce.ling one acre of land in any Town, without exposing the same to auction, at such prices as would, have formed the upset price if the land had bpen exposed to sale by auction.
