The Rainbow steamer, from the Taieri, dropped anchor at the Port on Sunday afternoon, and proceeded next morning to Dunediu. A steamer supposed to be the Geelong, passed up at a late hour on Sunday evening. . A large vessel anchored oft the Heads this vMonday) f'orennon, and the' Samson is getting up steam before proceeding to tow her up. Name not known. The Louisa lias removed to the lower anchorage, preparatory to sailing. The Blue Jacket will probably do the same in the evening, and the Mariposa and Yarrow are ready to lift anchor on the turn of the tide. ,„ ~„... The Isabella and Daniel Watson are still lying- inside the Heads, the prevailing south-westerly Wind being- unfavourable to them iv the event of their proceeding to sea. The India and Southern Cross, which went down to the Heads at the same time have sailed. There has been a paucity of arrivals for some days, but as the wind has now prevailed for somelittle time from the south-west, those vessels which are known to be on theii-way from Melbourne may bej hourly expected. There is no appearance yet of any of the Melbourne steamers. An excursion to the Heads promises to become an established holiday treat. The Samson is advertised to leaveDunedin and Port Chalmers for tlielieads, and Wiekcliffe Bay, on Good Friday, and the Rainbow is also intimated to sail with a party from Dunedin to the Heads on the same day.
Missiing Vessels.—There have been more than the usual losses of grain laden vessels this winter,-on their passage from America to Europe, and we subjoin the names of those reported from the 31st December to the present time, being a period of less than three weeks :—The Oriental Queen, for Queenstown : the Boyne, for Fleetwood ; the Aberfoyle, for Hull; the Elizabeth Leavitt, for Dublin ; the Harriett Ganu, for Glocester ; the Ellen, for Queenstown : the Queen of Sheba, for Cork; the Grace, for Belfast; the George 'Marsden, the Duchess, the Samuel Killam, and the L'riti&h Tar, for Queenstown; all from New, York. In addition to these, four vessels have been recorded as missing, namely—the Christen Svendsen, forthe United Kingdom : the Cousa and the Ulster, for Londonderry ; the A'nnaganu, for Dunkirk, all from New "York, and, besides these, several more vessels are much overdue, for which fears are entertained that they'will never reach tlieir destination.— Liverpool Albion.
