Original Correspondence.
To the Editor of Ihc Daily Tish-.s
Sir, —The miners of this locality were. astonished yesterday by a report that our worthy Commissioner. Captain 'Baldwin, R.M., had been removed from us.--If tl.is fchonld be the case, and that it is for his 'welfare, they would be exceedingly glad, but if not tliey, would regret it very much, as he is universally' popular. He is remarkable for the kindness and attention he shows when called, upon in the discharge of his arduous duties. His decisions have always met with the utmost satisfaction by all parties concerned, and [ think it quite unfair towards Captain Baldwin j now, after six months here amongst us, when he had very revere duties to perform between five or six thousand miners, to take him away, He knows most of the miners, ami is acquainted wit» tlle greater part of the claims and the locality about here, so that if we get a strange Commissioner, Waitiihuna will be often m a fix. . Trusting, dear sir, you will excuse this trouble and intrusion on your space, I remain, &c, A Lover of Fair Piat. Waitahuna, March 27,1862.
