STEW ART'S ISLAND.

We regret to hear that an accident has happened to the machinery of Messrs. Bullock and Walker's sveam saw-mill, which will necessitate the stoppage of the works until the damaged parts can be replaced from Melbourne. There were considerable orders on hand at the time. The Flying Cloud, schooner, Captain Simpson, came in on Saturday, 15th ult., loaded with 32,000 feet of timber, and sailed for Dunedin on the 24th.

Mr. Gallon's saw-mill continues in full work, and sends fortnightly supxilies for the In vercargill market, by the Hawkhead, schooner, B. Lowrey, Ballantyne, master. ■ " L Mr. Harrold's Fishery is now in active and successful operation. Several tons of fine fish have been caught and prepai-ed for the Dunedin market, and the quality is said to be of the.'first description. Mr. Harrold (who is an old Orkney' man or Shetland) is also preparing a quantity of fish for the Invercargill market, and for Austra^; lian consumption.

Messrs Simpson and Stewart, who have purchased the Fly cutter, have, we hear, been supplying the people of ltiverton with oysters. ■' The Swift, schooner, is about to be brought into the trade between Patterson's Inlet and in-, vercargill.— Southern News, March 15.
