The Contractor for*supplying Firewood must have constantly on hand, near the Camp or Barracks, in a place to be approved- by the undersigned, or his successor in office, a stock sufficient for 14 days' consumption, from which stock alone the is.sues are to be made. The stock to be at all iimea sxxbjeot to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all wood tb;it is objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed. The Wond, although paid foxby weight, according to the Tender, must be delivered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the Contractor on delivery ; 71 cubic feet being considered equivalent to a ton of 21M0 Jbs. It will be optional with the Commissariat to bring Coal into more general use, and reduce, or even discontinue the demand for Firewood altogether, should such a change become advisable. GROCERIES. The tenders to state the rate per ration as above, delivered in packages of suitable sizes to bu made dix-ect to the Acting- Quarter-Master. The Medical Officer to have the power of rejecting any article offered, and if proper supplies are not immediately substituted, of purchasing at the expense of tin; Contractor. PRISON SUPPLIES. . Each tender must contain the four rations, and state the price pur ration for each ofthe four. Guneral Conditions. 1. —All the articles to be of the best marketable quality of their several kinds. 2. —-Each tender to be accompanied by a statement signed by two approved persons becoming securities for the due '...performance of the contract, should the tender be ncceptud,.' The penalty in eaoh case will be the estimated amount of three months' contract. 3. No transfer of a contract will be permitted without the previous consent of the undersigned, or his successor in office. ( *"' , 4. In the event of a contractor failing to have his supplies ready for inspection and issue at the time and place appointed, the Oomniissax-iat Oftjcer oil duty to have the power of immediately purchasing the articles required at his expense, and in the event of such failure gecurx-ing, or any portion'of his supplies being rejected three times dux-ing any one calendar month, ie shall be optional with the undersigned, or his sue-. cessox-s in office, to end the contract at once, and to enforce the penalty of the bond. 5. The contractor to prepare his own account monthly, according to the prescribed' form, and on producing the same, with the requisite vouchers, in a complete state, at this office, payment will be made n cash. It shall be in the power of either party to limit the duration of the Contract by giving, in writirg, a notice of thx-ee calendar months to the opposite party, and to end the Contract at the expiration of that period. Such notice to be given only on the fix-st day of a month, and within the .period for which the Contract is made or agreed to be made. Each tender to be in dnplicate, sealed in one envelope, and endorsed, " Tender for ," as the case may be.- • . . ' A tender once sent in cannot be withdrawn or altered. Notice of the Acceptance of a Tender will be given as soon as px-acticable, and the bond nxust then be completed without delay. Forms of Tenders and any furthei'-information that may be -required will be afforded on application at this Office, at the Military Camp, Cemetery Hill, from teix to twelve o'clock daily. " Resolved—That an address be presented to His Honor the Superintendent requesting him to offer a reward not exceeding Two Thousand Pounds to, be awarded to any person or 'persons who shall discover an available gold-field in the Province of Auckland, and make the same known to the Provincial Govenir ment, this Council pledging itself to vote such sum when necessaxy, subject to the following conditions :— . * • " 1. Claim or claims to be sent into th§ Provincial Government. "2. An aVailable; gold-field, shall bo oonsideredto exis^ whenever. s\\c.li a. quantity of' gold shall be obtained front it, as shall have afforded employment to not less than 500 diggers for three months at fair average wages.
