COROMANDEL A FAILURE.
The following letter from a miner at Auckland has been received bythe last mail. It will be observed that the letter is addressed to the) Editor of the Witness, but as the writer, in a memorandum that accompanied the letter, expressed himself anxious that it should be published as early as possible, it has been placed at our disposal. To the Editor of the Otago "Witness. Auckland, Shakespeare Hotel, Gth March, 1862. Mr. Epitob,—My duly to my fellow men has.induced me to send you these few lines in order that you may publish them in your valuably paper, (Witness,) lor the infornintion'of Gold miners and others who may be intending to come to look for gold in Uoromaiidel. I was on the reputed Coroinaudel goldfield with many others for eight or ten days, and found it very difficult to raise the " color," and up to this date there has not been any payable grom.d found, and I am afraid never will, for the country has little appearance of being rich in frold. Coromandel is a greater sell than Fort Curtis was. I am, sir, yours most*respectfully. -. NiswirAN Spkncku.
