Indeed there is not one article for which, we can say there is an actual demand, and in prices several articles are ruling lower than Melbourne quotations. The English mail is now awaited' with much anxiety, and no transactions of a speculative nature are likely to be entered into until the British and American news is received. Considerable investments are still being made in real estate, «.nd the building trade continues very busy. There have recently been large arrivals of green fruit from Tasmania, vhich has for the time quite stopped the consumption of dried fruits, bottled fruits, jams, &c, which consequently are of dull sale.
