Government Notices. ARMY CONTRACTS. Commissariat, Duuedin, 24th February, 1862. TENDERS will be received at this office, until noon of Saturday, 22nd proxino, from persons willing to Contract for furnishing H.M.s troops with the undermentioned supplies, in such quantities, at such times, and at such piaces within this town, as may be directed by the undersigned, or by his successor in office, during the year commencing tha let April next, under the conditions hereinafter specified, vi 2. :— PROVISIONS, FUEL, AND LIGHT. The Fresh Sleat to consist of Beef and Mutton, delivered in such proportion as may be directed. AVhen Beef is issued, fore and hind quarters are to be delivered to the troops alternately. Six inches to be cut off the hough and neck bones. Slutton to be delivered in carcases. The Senior Commissariat Officer or Officer deputed by him to have the power of inspecting the live Cattle and Sheep intended for slaughter, and of rejecting any animal considered unfit for the use of the Troops. The animals to be killed and ready for the further inspection of the Commissariat Officer at such times and places as he may appoint. The Bread shall be the produce of clean sound AVheaten Flour of the best "quality, and baked {2i hours before issue) in loaves of 2 lbs. each. The Slould Candles are to be properly seasoned by being kept on hand by the Contractor for a suitable period after manufacture. The firewood to be hard wood, split and out into lengths of i feet. The Contractor for supplying Firewood must have constantly on hand, near the Camp or Barracks, in a place to be approved by the undersigned, or his successor in office, a stock sufficient for 14 days' consumption, from which stock alone the issues are to be made. The stock to be at all times subject to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all wood that is objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed. The AVood, although paid for by weight, according to the Tender, must be delivered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the Contractor on delivery ; 71 cubic feet being considered equivalent to a ton of 2240 lbs. It will be optional with the Commissariat to bring Coal into more general use, and reduce, or even discontinue the demand for Firewood altogether, should such a change become advisable. GROCERIES. The ration to consist of the following articles: — i oz. tea I „ salt f „ coffee, roasted and ground ■2 „ sugar 1-30,, pepper ground. Tlie tenders to state the rate per ration as above, delivered in packages of suitable sizes to be made direct to the Acting Quartcr-Staster. Articles especially imported or taken out of bond for this service will be free from colonial duties. HOSPITAL SUPPLES. Choice pieces of every description of Fresh A Sleat, without bone Fine bread (fancy if required) Fine flour Arrowroot Sago Rice Pearl barley Tea g Coffee 3No. 1 Company's best moist sugar » Best loaf sugar > Oatmeal S? Black lead •- salt r. AA'hite or black pepper Fine mustard Fresh butter Potatoes Slixed vegetables Yellow soap Preserved meats and soups (exclusive of tins) J Fresh eggs, at per dozen Fowls, each Bath bricks Si ilk, vinegar, lime juice, at per imperial pint English ale or porter, nt per dozen quart bottles, containing 5 gills each Sherry, port wine, and brandy, at per bottle of 1$ pints each Lemonade and soda water, at per dozen bottles. These supplies are to be delivered at the expense of the Contractor, direct to the Hospital Sergeant, at the Hospital, upon the written order of the Medical Officer. Each article to be ofthe best quality that can be procured. The Medical Officer to have the power of rejecting any article offered, and if proper supplies are not immediately substituted, of purchasing at the expense of the Contractor. PRISON SUPPLIES. Rations for Military Prisoners confined in the garrison cells to consist of the following articles, which are to be of the best description— NO. 1 RATION. SO. 2 RATION, COH--8 ozs. oatmeal tinned 1 ~ salt 1 lb. potatoes J ~ soap 4 ozs. onions IA lbs. brend SO. 3 ratios. 1£- pints milk 6 ozs. oatmeal no. 2 ratios. 1 „ salt 8 ozs. oatmeal J „ soap 8 „ bread 1J pint milk 1 „ salt 15 ow. bread i ~ soap no. 4 ration. 1 pint milk 1 lb. bread 8 ozs. meat | oz. soap These supplies to be delivered upon his requisition to the Acting Quarter-Master, who is to have the power of rejecting any article offered, and if proper supplies are not immediately substituted, of purchasing at the contractor's expense. Each tender must contain the four rations, and state the price per ration for each of the four. General Conditions. 1. All the articles to be ofthe best marketable quality of their several kinds.. 2. Each tender to he accompanied by a statement signed by two approved persons becoming securities for the due performance of the contract, should the tender be accepted. The penalty in each case will be the estimated amount of three months' contract. 3. No transfer of a contract will be permitted without the previous consent of the undersigned, or his successor in office. 4. In the event of a contractor failing to have his supplies ready for inspection and issue at the time and place appointed, tbe Commissariat Officer on duty to have the power of immediately purchasing the articles required at his expense, and iii the event of such failure occurring, or any portion of his supplies being rejected three times during any one calendar month, it shall be optional with the undersigned, or his successor in office, to end the contract at once, and to enforce the penalty of the bond. 5. The contractor to prepare his own account monthly, according to the prescribed, form, and on producing the same, with the requisite vouchers, iri a complete state, at this office, payment will be made in cash. Each tender to be in duplicate, sealed in one envelope, and endorsed, " Tender for ■ '■ ," as the case may he. A tender once sent in cannot be withdrawn or altered. Notice ofthe Acceptance of a Tender will be given as soon as practicable, and the bond must then be completed without delay. Forms of Tenders and any further information that may he required will be afforded on application at this Office, at the Slii.itaky Camp, Cemetery Hill, from ten to twelve o'clock daily.
