The ship Nor'wester, 2500 tons, one of the Telegraph lino of packets to Otago, arrived at Port hahners at 11 o'clock on Saturday morning-, bringing 330 steerage passengers, nnd a large amount of general cargo. She has made the passage in 8J days from Port "Philip Heads. The passengers were all brought up by the steam tug Sampson in the course of the afternoon. She is consigned to Mr. H. Houghton, of AValker-street, by whom she will be again despatched to Melbourne as soon as her cargo is discharged, ft is worthy of notice that the Nor'-westi-r is the largest vessel that ever entered the harbour.
The s.s. City of Hobart. took 16,207 ozs. 4 dwts. 12 grs. of gold—of which quantity 7000 ozs. were shipped by the Union Bank; 5000 ozs. by the Bank of New South Wales; 2950 ozs. 18 ilwt«. hy the Bank of New Zealaud; and 1250 ozs. 4 dwts. 12 gre. by private hands.
The Spudneil lighter was capsized yesterday on her ■passage from Ih-_- Port, to .Diiiiediu. She was laden with drays, Sec, from the' John Bryant, and it is expected she will be righted again without much injury. '
Desi'.htion.—Fift.-en sailors deserted from the Simoon on Tuesday Inst; although the bush has been searched in every direction by the water and Dunedin polio.-, throe only of them have been arrested. A large reward is off-red tor their apprehension. The Simoon is an American ship.
