HAWAHAN ISLANDS.
Yin California and Auckland, we have news from Honolulu to 2nd July. The following are extracts from Honolulu papers : — IxTEK-Isr.AND Steam Navigation.—At the quarterly mooting of the Ilinviian Steam Navigition Company last -week, it was found by the exhibit then made, and under the present management, that inter-island steam navigation could be made a profitable undertaking, During the last quarter the steamer had made ten trips to the island of Hawaii, and to to the island of Kauai. .The trips to the former island have averaged 971 dollars gross receipts, the maximum, being 1824 dollars, and the minium 722 dollars. A resolution was passed that it was advisable that the company should have another steamer of about 200 tons register, and there is hardly a doubt but that a new one will be ordered from England. It is contemplated to have her of iron, not to cost over 25,000 dollars, to be built and rigged according to plans prepared expressly for the purpose. It is estimated that one can he obtained whose consumption of coal will be much less than that of the' Kilauea.' Keugious Statistics of the Sandwich Is-lands.—-From the Holtuloa (native newspaper) the Polynesian of a recent date gleans the following figures, presented before the Annual Conference of the Protestant Missionaries in the Sandwich Islands in May last:—l. That 540 couples have been married during the past year 2. That 476 children lmvcbecn baptised. 3. That 711 members of the Hawaiian churches have died. 4. That 314 members of the Hawaiian churches have done wrong and been expelled. 5. That 1,404 persons have been admitted to membership in the Hawaiian churches. That the present number of church members is 19,746. 7. That 21,321 dollars have been contributed by the Hawaiian churches during the past year " for sundry objects to benefit the kingdom of Jesus." Ciiatiiolics. —The Catholics claim to have 22,000 church members in the Hawaiian Islands. and Bone.—During the first half of this year 5,510 gallons of sperm oil, 73,759 gallons of whale oil, and 55,997 lbs. of whalebone, have been shipped from Honolulu to San Francisco and New Bedford. Steam Biscuit Bakeuy.—A steam bakery, capable of baking a ton of biscuit daily,'bas been set up in Honolulu.
